Day 28: Reflecting on the Journey
Welcome to Day 28 of our 30-day journey through Purpose Driven Legacy. Today, we will take time to reflect on the entire journey and the transformation that has taken place over these past 28 days. As we reflect, we recognize the hand of God in our progress and the growth we have experienced. Reflection allows us to see how far we have come and to prepare for the future with renewed purpose and faith.
Biblical Perspective on Reflection
The Bible encourages us to reflect on our lives and God’s work within us. Lamentations 3:40 says, “Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord” (KJV). Reflection is a spiritual discipline that helps us evaluate our walk with God and make necessary adjustments to align more closely with His will.
The Importance of Reflection
- Recognizes God’s Work: Reflection allows us to see how God has been at work in our lives, guiding us, providing for us, and transforming us. Psalm 77:11-12 says, “I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings” (KJV).
- Encourages Growth: By reflecting on our journey, we can identify areas of growth and areas that need improvement. Philippians 1:6 reminds us, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (KJV).
- Fosters Gratitude: Reflecting on our progress helps cultivate a heart of gratitude for God’s blessings and faithfulness. 1 Chronicles 16:34 says, “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever” (KJV).
Steps to Reflect on Your Journey
- Spend Time in Prayer
Begin your reflection with prayer, asking God to reveal His work in your life and to guide you as you reflect. Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (KJV). Invite God to illuminate your journey and show you areas of growth and areas needing attention.
- Review Your Goals and Milestones
Look back at the goals you set and the milestones you achieved over the past 28 days. Reflect on the progress you have made and the challenges you have overcome. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps” (KJV). Recognize how God has directed your steps and helped you reach your milestones.
- Journal Your Reflections
Write down your reflections in a journal. Document the key lessons you have learned, the ways you have grown, and the insights God has given you. Habakkuk 2:2 says, “And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it” (KJV). Keeping a record of your reflections helps solidify your learning and provides a reference for future growth.
- Celebrate God’s Faithfulness
Take time to celebrate God’s faithfulness in your journey. Thank Him for His guidance, provision, and transformation. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (KJV). Rejoice in the progress you have made and the work God is doing in your life.
- Seek Feedback from Others
Ask trusted friends, family, or mentors for their perspective on your journey. Their insights can provide valuable encouragement and highlight areas you might have overlooked. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (KJV). Engaging with others helps you gain a fuller understanding of your progress.
- Set New Goals
Based on your reflections, set new goals for the future. Identify the next steps in your journey of purpose and legacy building. Philippians 3:13-14 encourages us, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (KJV). Look forward with hope and determination.

It allows you to recognize God’s work, encourage growth, foster gratitude, and prepare for the future with renewed faith. As we near the end of this 30-day journey, take time to celebrate the progress you have made and the ways God has transformed your life.
