Today, we reflect on Mark 1:14-20, where Jesus calls His first disciples: Simon (Peter), Andrew, James, and John. These fishermen left their nets immediately to follow Jesus, demonstrating a remarkable act of faith and obedience.

Jesus’ invitation to “Come, follow me” (Mark 1:17) was a call to a life of discipleship, requiring commitment and willingness to leave behind their old lives. This calling is still relevant for us today as we seek to follow Jesus and be transformed by His teachings.

Key Themes:

  • Discipleship: Following Jesus means committing to a life of learning, growth, and transformation.
  • Obedience: The disciples’ immediate response to Jesus’ call highlights the importance of obedience in our spiritual journey.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does it mean to you to follow Jesus in your daily life?
  2. Are there any “nets” you need to leave behind to fully commit to following Jesus?

Join us tomorrow as we witness Jesus’ early ministry of teaching and healing with authority.

Bless you,

Dustin Royer
