Welcome to Day 1 of our 14-day journey through “Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus: An Inspirational Study on Luke” by Dustin Royer. I’m excited to embark on this spiritual adventure with you as we explore the life and ministry of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel of Luke.
The Gospel of Luke is a unique and meticulously detailed account of Jesus’ life. Written by Luke, a physician and a close companion of the Apostle Paul, this Gospel provides us with a compassionate and thorough narrative of Jesus’ teachings, miracles, and interactions with people from all walks of life. Luke’s intention is to offer certainty and clarity about the life and mission of Jesus Christ.
Luke begins his Gospel with a dedication to Theophilus, explaining his purpose for writing:
“Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:1-4 ESV)
In these opening verses, Luke emphasizes his dedication to providing an accurate and orderly account of the events that have shaped our faith. His Gospel is not only a historical record but also a theological document meant to strengthen our understanding and faith in Jesus.
As we begin this study, let’s set the stage for what lies ahead. Over the next 14 days, we will walk in the footsteps of Jesus, witnessing His compassion, power, and love. We will delve into His teachings, reflect on His miracles, and understand the profound impact He had on those around Him.
