In Mark 2:23-28, Jesus and His disciples were criticized by the Pharisees for picking grain on the Sabbath. Jesus responded by teaching that “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27-28).
Jesus’ teaching emphasizes the true purpose of the Sabbath: rest and restoration. The Sabbath is a gift from God, designed to provide physical and spiritual renewal.
Key Themes:
- Rest: The importance of taking time to rest and recharge.
- Purpose: Understanding the Sabbath as a means for restoration and connection with God.
Reflection Questions:
- How do you observe rest in your life?
- What changes can you make to ensure you are experiencing true rest and restoration?
Tomorrow, we will reflect on Jesus healing the man with a withered hand on the Sabbath.
Bless you,
